La Jolla Surf Shop offers surf lessons 7 days per week in San Diego, CA.

Lessons are designed for all ages and abilities.

Lesson times: We do all times. Please call for availability.

Equipment included:  Lessons include use of a surfboard, wetsuit, and leash.

Duration: All lessons last for 1.5 hours and include the following three part lesson plan.                                 

Part 1-Land Lesson/ 10 to 15 minutes as needed:  Lessons start on the grass with 5 to 10 minutes of instruction and practice.   Students learn techniques for paddling, standing, falling, dodging and selecting waves along with surfer’s etiquette, stretching and much more.

Part 2-Water Lesson: After students have learned the techniques on land, we move into the ocean for a one hour ten minutes of guided surf instruction.  During this time the instructor will push and coach students into waves, tell students what they are doing right, or wrong so they are surfing on their own by the end of the lesson. 

Part 3-Independent Practice/ 15 minutes:

You may continue to use the rental equipment for a minimal charge after your lesson time has ended.

Type of Lesson:

These are surfboard rentals with optional free Group Lesson: You provide a group of 4-6 students working with one of our instructors. $60.00 per person.

These are surfboard rentals with optional free Semi-Private Lesson:- 2-3 students (you and a friend) working with one instructor. $65.00 per person.

These are surfboard rentals with optional free Private Lesson:- 1 student working with one instructor. $75.00 per person.

Lessons booked in advance-
AM Lessons booked in advance must be confirmed the day before lesson.
Pm lessons must be confirmed morning of lesson.

Lessons booked at set time-
Instructor will wait 15 min. after scheduled time lesson may be canceled at this time or lesson time shortened at the discretion of the instructor.

Conditions and safety day of lesson-
Waves and weather conditions may not be safe for
surf lessons. Lesson may be canceled up to the discretion of the instructor. Student that do not fallow instructions may end and cancel the lesson.

Lessons canceled due to conations, safety or students not complying with above instruction are nonrefundable.
